A new medical device manufacturing plant has opened in Almaty.
The total investment volume amounted to 2.1 billion tenge, Vecher.kz reports.- A new high-tech medical device manufacturing plant opened in the Special Economic Zone "Innovative Technologies Park" in Almaty.
Juldyz Kenan Co., Ltd. is the only manufacturer of catheters, probes, containers for collecting pathological material, and other medical devices in the country. Total investment amounted to 2.1 billion tenge. The company has created approximately 100 jobs, and its production capacity allows for an annual output of up to 10 million units. The plant's products are in demand in various medical fields, from intensive care and surgery to neonatology and pediatrics. The entire product line is certified and meets international quality standards ISO 13485.
The company covers the entire production cycle: from design and clinical testing to packaging and sterilization. Its 7,000 square meter facility houses modern production lines, a laboratory, and warehouse space. Manufacturing processes include extrusion, injection molding, milling, assembly, packaging, and sterilization in a Class H14 cleanroom environment.
According to investor and plant director Baglan Bakkulova, Juldyz Kenan has been operating in the market for over 30 years and currently offers 169 products. With the opening of the new facility, the company will be able to meet up to 90% of domestic market demand. Currently, the company's products are supplied to more than 2,670 medical institutions. Exports are also conducted to Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Belarus, Iran, and Afghanistan.
The company places particular emphasis on innovation. Specifically, it has completed the registration of needle-free systems, which it plans to launch in the market in volumes of up to 3-4 million units per year. Production is carried out using high-quality, safe raw materials, including components from the United States.
During the opening ceremony, Zauresh Amanzholova, MD, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Scientific Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Perinatology, emphasized that the plant's products are already being used in obstetrics. Specifically, the company has launched the production of clamps for newborns, which were previously unavailable on the domestic market.
The opening of the plant marked a significant step in the development of domestic industry and medical infrastructure, as well as strengthening Kazakhstan's export potential for medical devices. As a reminder, 182 companies are currently members of the Park of Innovative Technologies SEZ, where the plant is located. Investments have totaled 205 billion tenge, and more than 6,900 jobs have been created. Six new projects worth 18.5 billion tenge (including Juldyz Kenan Ltd.) are planned for launch in 2025.
